That is AWESOME! Just wondering though, how much approximately do you think you paid out of pocket for the items you consigned? Love the blog:)

Wow! That's amazing. I sold about 80% of what I took and was pretty happy with that since this was my first sale. The only thing I wasn't happy about was that when I went to pick up my items I couldn't find about 1/3 of what was left. I heard others complaining of the same thing so I know I wasn't the only one.

Amazing!! I can't believe the sell through on your items! Ok, off to read your old posts and see what the tips to consignments sales are!

Awesome consignment results! May I ask, how do you determine pricing on your toys & baby equipment in particular? I always see the 1/3 retail rule for clothing, but for other things, do you base it off of ebay prices, or what? I'm getting ready for my first sale as a consignor now, and I have so many questions!!

Kimberly - Generally speaking (there are always exceptions) I price about 1/4 retail for clothing, 1/3 retail for regular size toys, and 1/2 retail for bigger outdoor type toys and baby equipment. I also 1/2 price 99% of my items for the last discount day.

Great Job!

Oh..I LOVE seeing your results. This was my second sale. I took 215 items..I sold 201. My goal for the fall is to double and to get where you are. I can't say thank you enough for the post you did on Yard Sale Mommy!!!

Great Job. I'm just curious how much time you think you have into this sale? Where do you store it all???? I think I would go crazy with 600 items to organize and store. I can barely handle the 10 items I bring home each week :)

feetinwater - I store all my items in 18 gallon totes in the garage. Big stuff goes out to the storage shed until the sale. We have an 1100sqft home with 5 people living in it... space is an issue but we survive! As far as time, who knows?! Pretty much all my free time outside of taking care of our home and children is dedicated to my treasure hunting and reselling addiction. I'm constantly researching, shopping, organizing inventory, tagging, prepping, mailing packages, doing paperwork, etc. I sell on eBay, at consignment sales, and I also have a small local antique booth!

Well, You are doing great!! I've only been doing this reselling since August, so I'm still getting myself organized, and hopefully I can get a good system down by this Christmas. :) Thanks. Heather

I made $288 at a sale I did a few weeks ago. I'm nowhere near as organized as you are but I know I priced everything to make a profit, even on the 50% off day. I can't wait until summer to shop garage sales and get items for the fall consignment sale!

A tip to any readers-- color code your clothing hangers. I used decorative packing tape, some people use ribbons, some use the colorful duct tape. That way you can easily spot your items when you pick them up.

I just participated in a very small consignment sale this weekend. It was my first sale and I was a little dissappointed. I only sold about half my items, even though most items were priced to sell. The sale is a newer sale (and kind of in a hidden spot in my opinion). It was also an hour drive so I am not sure I will be making the trek in the fall. Great job with all your sales! They are fantastic!
